Ounce Of Prevention Worth A Pound Of Cure?

I was thinking about the old saying that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

I have a friend who says, along the same lines of that saying, that if someone had done an appropriate job in screening the 9/11 highjackers we never would have heard of Osama Bin Laden and the Twin Towers would still be standing.

He told me, “When you have prevention you don’t need heroes. Prevention stops the drama.”

I’m not sure I totally believe that, but it is an intriguing thought. I suppose that being on the alert for difficulties in advance is a good idea regardless of what realm we think about.

Getting the correct shots while still a child would be a good example.

And having appropriate preventative security measures would rank right up there as well.

So maybe an ounce of prevention IS still a good idea. Maybe in these times it’s worth even more than a pound of cure. Maybe even a ton’s worth!
