Entrepreneur Community Online: #StartupAmerica is DOA – DOOR OPEN AMERICAN Entrepreneurs

Entrepreneur Community Online: #StartupAmerica is DOA - DOOR OPEN AMERICAN Entrepreneurs. After a week of watching, reading and listening, this is my assessment. I have read the blog posts that critique it, I have read the comments that wonder how far it will go before it bogs down in politics and bureaucracy. I have read about the simultaneous mistrust and hope that @SteveCase has been put in charge. I have also read about how much new power has been given to the SBA. And after all of that, my entrepreneurial side takes over and instead of all the negatives, I see an opportunity! I choose to walk through that door and take up that opportunity.

The #WhiteHouse has publicly recognized the problems and need for solutions for entrepreneurs. So, instead of ridicule, blame and distrust, let's give them the benefit of the doubt. While we are at it, let's lend our considerable support and energy to making it happen the way we want it to. Last time I checked, we are still the people, still have a voice and can still exercise that voice.

Please - no more regurgitating sound bites that you have heard in the past and currently. Go as close to the source as you can before you use social media to spread misinformation. And then, before you post that tweet, or status update, ask yourself, "Am I helping to promote an agenda that will benefit us all?".... or "Am I casting negativity that will just redirect everyone's energy from the task at hand?"

In my mind, the immediate task at hand is to let the #WhiteHouse know that we support changes for entrepreneurs, that we are eager to help, and that we won't let the #StartupAmerica Initiative get bogged down in politics or bureaucracy. We, the down in the trenches, hands on entrepreneurs, we the people will start implementing this initiative from the bottom up.

How?

First things first, we organize.

I agree with Steve Blank that there are different types of entrepreneurs and that one size does not fit all. So, use social media to find your group, your people. Ignorance is no excuse. If you do not know how to use social media, learn. There are 100's of willing teachers. Contact me if you want to be directed to the good ones.

If not the internet/social media, then simply walk down your main street and go talk with your neighbors. Then, either create a way to organize or find organizations that already exist and join them. I would definitely suggestwww.EntrepreneurCommunityOnline.com If not here, figure out a way to organize yourselves so that one voice becomes many. Power in numbers!

Simultaneously, we educate yourselves.

STOP relying on sound bites of misinformation.

Go straight to the source as much and as often as possible. Bypass the news, bypass those who are lining up to benefit from misdirection and go to the source. Who would that be? The White House. Once that door was opened, it can only be shut if we allow it to be. This may have been a photo opp for President Obama, but, he left a few empty spaces in the photo album for us. And I for one, intend to take my place there.

There are several ways to do this:

You and/or your organized group become a voice in the Advise the Advisor Program;

Go through the #StartupAmerica Initiative, track down and contact the appointed leaders in the areas that interest you;

Contact your local congressional representatives and senators and make them aware of you, your group and your needs;

What do you do when you contact them?

You offer to help. Help in anyway you can. This is a big task that is being proposed and your energy is needed in order to get it done.

What then?

You go back to your group and keep discussing solutions.

What resources do you already have?

Can you obtain the resources you don't have? Why? Why not?

What are your biggest needs?

What solutions can be found to address your needs?

How difficult will these solutions be?

Who needs to take charge of them?

Who in your group is willing to work on each problem/solution set?

Assign tasks and get busy.

I believe that the solutions to our entrepreneurial issues can be addressed by#StartupAmerica, but, not if we wait around for them to do the work. I would love to see us, we the people, address these issues directly. I would love to see a massive wave of creative destruction applied to our problems. And then, I would love to have our solutions presented as they are being implemented - from the ground up.

Don't tell us we can't do something we are already doing.

Altruistic? Sure, but then again, I am an entrepreneur. I am one of "the people". And I am part of a solution. And I am walking through that open door.
